Hereford St Community Garden
In 2016, HopeCare explored the idea of developing a vacant 5-acre flood plain owned by Hope Bathurst. The idea was to develop a “community garden” on the block to benefit the community by providing a resource for agency workers and people with disabilities as well as growing food for our HopeCare Café and Pantry
Today, the Hereford St Community Garden is a cost free resource for members of the community who do not have access to garden plots. In addition to private plots, the garden acts as a resource for NDIS providers, job seekers and people serving community service orders. People have the opportunity to develop skills as well as learn about horticulture and food production. The garden also provides a source of fresh vegetables for our HopeCare Café and HopeCare Pantry.
