Our History

The Junktion opened in 2010 as an initiative of HopeCare. Located directly next door to the Bathurst Waste Management Facility, our mission was to reduce landfill whilst making an income to fund our Community Support Services. Since 2010, the Junktion has grown from a small tip shop opening 3 days per week into a Reuse and Recovery Centre open 7 days, employing 7 staff with up to 20 volunteers.

How the Junktion makes Bathurst a better place

The Junktion – “Reuse and Recovery Centre” on College road is one of Bathurst’s best-loved destinations for renovators, up-cyclers, restorers, gardeners and bower-birders.

It specialises in large items, ranging from building and landscaping supplies, domestic and commercial furniture, paints and decor, lawn mowers and yard machinery, and working electrical items. The Junktion is the only locally run facility that is able to offer second hand electrical items for sale, that have been both tested and tag tested with warranty for your safety and reassurance.

Reuse. Repair. Rescue. Recycle.

Turning “waste into welfare” is a concept that underpins our mission. By giving a second chance to items that may otherwise enter landfill, we generate vital funds for our community support initiatives whilst fulfilling our environmental objective of reducing waste.

Both The Junktion and The Bargain Centre are dedicated to recycling and reducing waste and providing unique retail experiences for our customers.

All profits raised through the sale of items goes directly back to supporting our local community.

The Junktion also provides volunteer and work opportunities for people with disabilities, participating in Work for the Dole programs, Community Service programs, work placement, work experience and Work Development Orders.

Donations

The Junktion specialises in the sale of quality second had goods. Goods sold start out as donations by members of the community. There are many items we can take as well as some we cannot.

We also accept monetary donations and as a charity registered with the ACNC any monetary donations are tax deductable.

Some may wish to donate specific goods or business services. Local businesses often offer services of specific goods such as food, to Hope Care as a form of donation.
